Aiming to increase productivity, enhance problem solving skills, improve communication, and better conflict resolution, DS2 consortium enaged in a fun team building activity, the Human Knot Game.
The Human Knot Game, a classic icebreaker perfect for groups of all sizes and ages, was run by the whole DS2 team during the last project meeting from April 2024. The Human Knot Game is a physical puzzle that requires participants to work together to untangle themselves from a human knot without letting go of each other's hands. It's a fantastic way to promote cooperation, problem-solving, and communication among participants.
How the game was played?
All the consortium participants formed a circle and everyone faced each other. Each person reached out with their left hand and grabbed the hand of someone across the circle. The same was done with the right hand but grabbing a different person’s hand. Without letting go of each other's hands, the group worked together to untangle the knot. This involved stepping over, ducking under, and twisting around each other. The game ended when the group successfully untangled themselves into a single circle without breaking the chain of hands.
What did the DS2 consortium achieved with this game?
Promoted teamwork, and built trust as the group had to communicate and collaborate effectively. All the participants had to think creatively and strategically to untangle the knot therefore the problem solving skills were seen in action. This game did not only promote clear communication but it was also a fun and engaging way to connect with our collaborators regardless of culture and background.
This game brought the DS2 consortium closer together and create lasting and fun memories.
