Today the DS2 and UPCAST projects had an insightful online joint meeting. This brought together project members which shared the progress, explored synergies, and laid the groundwork for future collaborations.
The session began with an overview of the UPCAST project by George Konstantinidis, Associate Professor at the University of Southampton, "UPCAST is developing universal, trustworthy, transparent and user-friendly plugins for data marketplaces to improve quality of data transactions between businesses, public administrations and citizens."

This was followed by an engaging presentation on the DS2 project by its coordinator, Juha-Pekka Soininen from VTT. Stuart Campbell, the technical lead and conceptor of DS2, from Information Catalyst, provided an in-depth look at the project's innovative technical solutions. DS2 focuses on creating highly independent modules, providing an Integrated Development Toolkit (IDT) for users to download, customize, and adapt specific modules to their unique use cases.

The webinar continued with a presentation on the UPCAST policy tool, which utilizes Open Digital Rights Language (ODRL) to define data-sharing policies, including permissions, prohibitions, obligations, and constraints. A demonstration of the UPCAST contract negotiation plugin showcased its ability to clearly distinguish roles between consumers and providers, simplifying the negotiation process.

The event proved to be highly productive, fostering valuable discussions and opening pathways for future collaborations between these two cutting-edge projects.
