Thanks to the DS2 project, the Municipality of Murska Sobota from Slovenia is turning air quality data into something everyone can actually use. By collecting real‑time measurements of Particulate Matter (PM): PM10* and PM2.5* particles, they are able to translate complex environmental data into a clear and understandable air quality index for the City Municipality of Murska Sobota. This effort helps bridge the gap between raw sensor readings and meaningful insights that can support healthier living.
The Municipality of Murska Sobota launched a public preview of a new website where citizens can easily check up‑to‑date information about local pollution levels at any time. The goal is simple: make air quality data transparent, accessible, and genuinely useful for everyday decisions — whether you’re heading out for a morning walk, planning outdoor activities with your family, or simply staying informed about the environment around you. By giving residents direct access to this information, the municipality hopes to encourage greater awareness and empower people to make choices that support their wellbeing.
See here the current air quality index and PM measurements.
*PM10 are particles with a diameter up to 10 micrometers and PM2.5 are particles with a diameter up to 2.5 micrometers. Due to their small size, they can penetrate deep into the respiratory tract and bloodstream, posing health risks.
